Cathleen was born outside New Orleans, LA, but spent most of her life in Meriden, CT. Currently, she’s back home working social media for Nola.com | The Times-Picayune. She graduated from Emerson College with a B.S. in Journalism, minoring in both Photography and Post-Colonial and Global Studies. There, she held various positions with their award-winning student newspaper, The Berkeley Beacon. She also spent six months as a full time co-op at The Boston Globe. Along with more internships and extracurriculars, Cathleen spent a semester in the Netherlands, where she traveled every weekend. Barely even a year and a half later, Cathleen left for Cuba to study the intersections of culture, art, and politics under the guidance of professors Mneesha Gellman and Katerina Gonzalez Seligmann. She continues to visit new places on her own as often as she can—holding a present high of 12 different countries.
